If a picture tells a thousand words, one just needs to look at some of the pictures of life at Potomac Homes. The fun of holiday parties is evident in the smiles on everyone's faces. The strength of relationships, between residents and residents and staff, is obvious. The smiles of residents and their guests shows gratefulness that loved ones are so well cared for. The dignity of each resident is apparent as they gaze into the camera, knowing that their needs will be met and that they are loved.
My mother came to Potomac Homes almost five years ago for respite care. She never left because this address became her true home. A place where she greets her friends enthusiastically for the afternoon meal, where bowling has become one of her favorite pasttimes, where family and friends are always welcome to drop in, and where manicures come every Friday. During this time, as she has become more frail she is also healthier than when she lived on her own. Wonderful staff members see to her physical, emotional, and social needs with patience and love. She often says "I am very happy." She can remember the past with affection; but she does not fight the present, nor fear the future. Hers is a life that continues to be lived with elegance and dignity. Thank you, Potomac Homes. --A. McKeag, resident's daughter
