"The homey atmosphere combined with your staff - who treats my mom like a person rather than a patient - quickly transformed her physically. This pleasant atmosphere also encourages frequent visits and participation by resident's families in activities, which in turn further  improves the atmosphere and increases the mental stimulation"

" The attention you have paid to the selection and training of your staff has paid off...There is no doubt in my mind that they take pride  in their work, and that they care about the   people who are in their charge. Your high professional standards are also very evident in the overall operation of the home, which gives me a great feeling of reassurance...I can see that you care a great deal about the quality of the residents' lives. All in all, I fell that you have provided a safe, secure and welcoming home for my mother , and for that I am very grateful."

"Thank you for providing a loving and caring home for our father for almost 2 1/2 years. Potomac Homes was recommended to us by a geriatric case manager familiar with assisted living facilities in Northern Virginia, and we quickly discovered the advantages of placing Dad in a true home-like setting.  At Potomac, the staff got to know him personally and cared for him as they would a member of their own family. The social interaction & group activities gave him a quality of life that had been missing when he was living on his own. Since we (his sons) both lived in other states, it was especially important and comforting to us to know that Dad was receiving the highest level of professional care at all times, and for this we will always be grateful."

"Moving a loved one out of their home because they can no longer take care of themself is a difficult time. I know it was for me. However, due to the wonderful staff, Potomac Homes has become my father’s second home. He has been there for over 4 years and has been cared for very well. I visit every weekend and the house is always running smoothly. I am grateful to Linda and the others for providing such a great environment.

My father lived at Potomac Homes for 4 1/2 years and had the same wonderful caregivers for the entire time.  Who could ever say that about a nursing home?  In fact, he was in 3 nursing homes for short term rehabilitations at different times and was lonely and neglected so much so that my husband, son and I had to be there with him for most of the hours of the day.   At Potomac Homes he was always with friendly people who cared and understood his needs, and I always had peace of mind that he was being treated with respect and kindness.

I was impressed by the way the ladies treated ALL the residents with the same care and respect including the folks whose loved ones did not live in the area and who could not visit often.  I will always be thankful for finding Potomac Homes for my father.  I will always be thankful for the special caregivers and for Linda whose registered nursing and management skills were an added bonus especially in times of illness or stress.  Potomac Homes was my dad's second family and oftentimes, his first.                           --D. If a picture tells a thousand words, one just needs to look at some of the pictures of life at Potomac Homes.  The fun of holiday parties is evident in the smiles on everyone's faces.  The strength of relationships, between residents and residents and staff, is obvious.  The smiles of residents and their guests shows gratefulness that loved ones are so well cared for.   The dignity of each resident is apparent as they gaze into the camera, knowing  that their needs will be met and that they are loved.

My mother came to Potomac Homes almost five years ago for respite care.  She never left because this address became her true home.  A place where she greets her friends enthusiastically for the afternoon meal, where bowling has become one of her favorite pasttimes,  where family and friends are always welcome to drop in, and where manicures come every Friday.  During this time, as she has become more frail she is also healthier than when she lived on her own.  Wonderful staff members see to her physical, emotional, and social needs with patience and love.  She often says "I am very happy."   She can remember the past with affection; but she does not fight the present, nor fear the future.  Hers is a life that continues to be lived with elegance and dignity.  Thank you, Potomac Homes.                                                                --A.
